Unique venue for meeting and social events developed by Campus Partners to be managed by Columbus Hospitality Management

Campus Partners, the non-profit developer spearheading the planning and redevelopment of areas near The Ohio State University, today announced Vitria, the first new event venue of its kind in the University District’s High Street corridor since the opening of the Ohio Union in 2010. Vitria is a full-service, sophisticated new event and meeting center in the University Square North building at 15th Avenue and High Street at the storied crossroads of the University District and Ohio State’s campus.

Vitria is projected to open in the first quarter of 2023 and is accepting inquiries currently at info@vitriaonthesquare.com. More information can be found at vitriaonthesquare.com.

The University Square North building opened in 2021 and is the location for the university’s Office of Advancement. With street level eateries and a public plaza that serves as a gathering place for the neighborhood, Vitria event spaces overlook the vibrant plaza, the walkway into Ohio State’s beloved Oval as well as university academic and Arts District buildings including Sullivant Hall, Mershon Auditorium and the Wexner Center for the Arts.

“There is an increasing expectation in our market for the highest quality surroundings and culinary experiences for meetings, conferences and social occasions,” said Amanda Hoffsis, President of Campus Partners. “Vitria sets a very high bar with its sophisticated spaces featuring metropolitan interior design and original art throughout the venue plus soaring windows overlooking a location unlike any other.

“Partnering with Columbus Hospitality Management, a trusted national leader in guest service and amenities for hotels, conference centers, restaurants and event venues, ensures that the guest experience exceeds the high standards established for this breathtaking new venue,” Hoffsis concluded.

“We have no doubt that Vitria will be embraced by the community right away given the beauty of the space and its incredible location,” said Kathyrn Burton, Chief Operating Officer of Columbus Hospitality Management. “Columbus Hospitality Management is honored to offer services in unique venues across the country. Vitria captivated us from the very start, and we cannot wait to share the venue with discerning event hosts who want to present gatherings that will have an impact on their guests long after they’ve said farewell for the evening.”

Vitria Location:

Vitria is a multiple space event venue located at 14 E. 15th Avenue, on the northeast corner of 15th Avenue and N. High Street developed by Campus Partners.  Vitria is located on the second floor of the 98,808 square foot University Square North building that opened in spring 2021 and is the home to the development associates of The Ohio State University.

Just south of Vitria is a new plaza that was envisioned as the “living room” of the University District and campus community. On a daily basis, students, faculty, staff and neighbors meet on the plaza to socialize, study or enjoy a meal. Street level eateries on or near the plaza in University Square North include Roots Natural Kitchen, Bubbles Tea & Juice Company and the soon-to-open Barrio Tacos.

The plaza is also home to the Friendship Walk, a pedestrian thoroughfare featuring the word friendship in 141 languages along the granite walkway, representing all languages spoken by faculty, students and staff at Ohio State. Friendship was selected from Carmen Ohio, the alma mater of Ohio State, because it reflects the intent of the outdoor plaza to bring people together and forge a stronger community.

On the southeast corner of 15th Avenue and N. High Street is University Square South, a 101,866 square foot building that was designed to complement and reflect University Square North. University Square South will house additional university offices once completed.

The walkway from Main Library across the Oval to the 15th and High Street area is known affectionately as the “Long Walk.” In Ohio State lore, it is thought that a couple who takes the Long Walk while holding hands together is destined for marriage. Vitria resides at the end of the Long Walk and will provide an opportunity for more memories for students, alumni and visitors.

Vitria Name and Features:

An extraordinary visual within the Vitria Grand Ballroom is a series of 25 feet floor to ceiling windows that offer sweeping views of campus and bring the pulse of campus into the event space. When considering an appropriate name for the center the Campus Partners team gravitated to the presence of the majestic windows and decided a variation of the word Vitrum, which is Latin for glass, was a name befitting the elegance of the space.
